About DISC

What is DISC?

Understand DISC by real application.

DISC is a very powerful four-quadrant, needs-behavioral personality model based on the work of William Moulton Marston, a Behavioral Psychologist who researched, designed, and developed the DISC Profiling Model in the late 1920's following his interest in the emotions of normal people.

D I S C comes from the initial letters of the four observable styles. Marston discovered that the higher the point on a DISC graph, the greater the need for control in the following situations:

  • (D) Dominance of problems - people who need to control, maintain power and assertiveness.
  • (I) Influence of people - people who love social situations, friendship, and communicating
  • (S)Steadiness of the pace of the environment - people who thrive with patience, persistence and thoughtfulness.
  • (C) Compliance to procedures and rules - people who need to be correct by having all the facts.

Why DISC - and not other Personality Profiling tests?

DISC is self-evaluated to be one of the most accurate, most reliable and most consistent Personality Profiling models in the world.

The profile provides more than just a simple set of words that 'define' your personality. The full DISC profile details the observable behaviors, including your strengths and weaknesses, as well as your needs and fears.

You also receive full coaching or debriefing on your profile, to best understand all the revealing information.  DISC also can be profiled against any job to show what personality style is best suited to that role.

How DISC works

DISC requires that you first undertake a simple questionnaire, or profile.

All you need to do is answer the questions in your most honest way. Just think about a situation in which you would better like to know yourself, your actions and behaviours.

For example, perhaps you want to understand more about who you are and how you behave within your family situation. You would keep this scenario in mind as you answer the DISC questionnaire.

A certified DISC consultant would evaluate the answers you have given. The result is a Report which details some valuable insights into your personality style.
